The OGT is keen to protect both registered and non-registered sites of interest, and submits comments on planning applications affecting both urban and rural sites. We keep in touch with the latest government initiatives and give updates on relevant changes to legislation affecting gardens. The OGT has commented on numerous planning applications and proposals including those concerning the Oxford Greenbelt, on Minerals and Waste Sites proposed for Oxfordshire and on proposals affecting individual sites. We remain concerned and vigilant about "garden grabbing" and the replacement of front gardens with hard surfacing for parking spaces and would urge all members to let the Committee know of further threats you are concerned about.

Research We have an active research group, which is collating material on sites in the County. The archive is available to members by contacting: secretary@ogt.org.uk. We carry out on-site recording as well as desk-based research. In August 2009, volunteers from the Trust took part in a two-week archaeological dig at Ascott Park. North Weston Port

Exhibition The Trust is preparing an exhibition on Oxfordshire's parks and gardens, tracing the evolution of historic landscapes from earliest times to the present day. Subject to obtaining funding, this will be taken to venues around the county in 2010. (not known)

Schools  The Trust is committed to helping schools to introduce children to growing fruit and vegetables. We can help primary schools by providing information on funding and resources for school gardens. We are looking for Trust members to volunteer their own particular skills for our schools programme. For further information contact: schools@ogt.org.uk (not known)

Conferences and courses  OGT members regularly lecture to a variety of organisations as well as running courses on gardens and garden history often in association with University of Oxford Department of Continuing Education. There are plans to hold the annual conference of the Association of Gardens Trust in Oxford in 2011. Garsington Manor
